Microsoft Azure


Here at J-Media use the Microsoft Azure platform to host applications, backups and it is part of our disaster recovery strategy. This is down to not only easy of deployment and low cost, but because of the level of redundancy we can have.

Highlighted below are lists for both the key services and products on Azure.

  • (IaaS) Infrastructure as a Service: This is a form of cloud computing that provides virtualized computing resources over the internet and can be scaled up or down to suit the demand.
  • (PaaS) Platform as a Service: Provides companies with a platform to develop, run and managed their applications without the complexity of maintaining an infrastructure. This allows for faster deployments to market and is usually associated when developing and launching and app.
  • (SaaS) Software as a Service: Has the ability to deliver applications to thousands of users without the capex costs of infrastructure.


  • Compute: these services provide virtual machines (VMs), batch processing and remote application access.
  • Web & Mobile: support the development and deployment of Web & Mobile applications. API management, reporting and notifications are also features on offer.
  • Data Storage: for newer services like Database as a Service (DaaS) offerings for SQL as well as backup for unstructured data.
  • Analytics: these services provide distributed analytics and storage for big data analytics, machine learning and data warehousing.
  • Networking: virtual networks, dedicated connections and gateways as well as load balancing, domain name system (DNS) and traffic management are all offered as part of this service.
  • Media & CDN: for on-demand streaming, indexing and media playback.
  • Hybrid Integration: these are for services for server or machine backups, site recovery and connecting private & public clouds.
  • Identity & Access Management: this ensures that only an authorized user can use the Azure services of your company. Helping protect encryption keys and other confidential information.
  • Internet of Things: these services help users to capture, monitor and analyse IoT data from devices and a variety of sensors.
  • Development: application developers can share code, test applications and track potential issues. JavaScript, Python, .NET, NODE.j.s are all supported languages on Azure.
  • Management & Security: this product set helps company cloud administrators manage their Azure deployment, run jobs and schedule. Automation and notification capabilities allow for identifying and responding to cloud security threats effectively.
